don't be fooled by the kicks that I got

I know everyone is used to seeing me in heals/wedges/boots... but I do have a Tom-Boy side and I collect kicks as well! some may think collecting shoes may be overrated but to me, it's another way to express my style and the love I have for shoes and fashion. plus, when my son, Skyler is a bit bigger, he will be able to wear the shoes I've collected!

I'm usually into the Jordans... the retro 7s are definitely my favs. I have 1 pair of Lebrons... only because the hornets are designed with 2 of my favorite colors! (Kobe fan here)

I have attached some pictures I had in my phone of myself and my son wearing some kicks.

HAPPY HALLOWEEN TO ALL!!

XOXO,

Thrifting Virgin

This past Sunday I went to a couple thrift stores for the first time ever. My fellow Team Shoeicide blogger Eirika inspired me to give it a shot. For years, I had been so closed minded about it, because I hate shopping at places that are messy, unorganized, & the thought of wearing someone else’s old clothes just didn’t sit well with me. But Eirika picked up some pretty cool pieces for under five dollars, so I pushed all those negative assumptions aside & went for it. The first thrift store that I went to was a Goodwill in Hallandale Beach & it was actually really nice. Everything was neat, organized, & the clothes were easy to look through.

I didn’t buy much but I found a colorful floral shirt with a tie around the collar for $4.50.

I also bought a pair of stripe harem pants for $3.00.

The second place I went to was called Florida Garden Thrift, & this place was ratchet! LOL! Their stuff was all over the place & in no particular order. The items were not in good condition, & over priced in my opinion.

I didn’t purchase anything from this one, but my mother found a black & white tuxedo style romper for $20.00.

Now that I’ve broken my thrifting virginity I’m definitely going to do it more often. I feel silly for stereotyping thrift stores for so many years without actually ever going to one. Over all I enjoyed the experience & I’m glad I tried something new... Thanks Eirika!

Man'O'Man

Ladies, I think we can all agree that there's nothing sexier than good smelling man or a man in a suit!!! It just does something to a woman... It's so powerful, strong, masculine and the look automatically grabs your attention and gains your respect... Everything about a tailored man is SEXY!

@Davidson_frere
Some where deep off in InstaLand (instagram) I stumbled across the page of this style god by the name of @davidson_frere. After perusing his profile, I fell in love INSTANTLY with his style...  For me, there's nothing sexier than a MAN who dresses like a MAN!

@Davidson_frere
A man in a suit is an immediate turn on but his distinct attention to detail is what caught my eye! I'm just going to post a bunch of pics from his profile to let you gals see where I'm coming from!

He's Always dressed to impress. It's so refreshing to see a man who takes care of himself!

Disclaimer: He doesn't post his face in his pics often, which makes him all the more mysterious... But it also leaves alot of room to imagine his style, paired on the face of any man that you want... LOL!

But Here's A Face Shot Of The "Suit God" Himself
Yes, He Has Face shots WITH a shirt on... But hey, what fun would that be :)
(I Think He's My Insta Crush Of The Week)

He also shows his appreciation for other men in suits on his page! Trey Songz, True Blood Star Joe Manganiello, and my favorite is the pic he has of Victor Cruz (NY Giants player) Lorddddd What A Fine Man He Is...

Victor Cruz

THIS IS THE PIC OF Mr. Davidson THAT MADE ME A FAN!! :)

Anyways, Follow @Davidson_frere and check out www.Pfrere.com And Tell A Friend!

Work Out Of The Week #FitLife

#workoutoftheweek!
Hey everyone, It’s Jemes (yes with an E) again. Self proclaimed fitness connoisseur and the guy that’s bringing you awesome fitness blogs on how to live a fit and healthy lifestyle.
Alright, this week while walking out of the gym after completing another BEAST MODE workout.

This young lady walked up to me and asked me for a workout routine she can do in her office or at home that requires little to no equipment. Without even thinking about it I recommended the 100 Workout. I’ve tortured a few of my clients with this workout before and they loved it!

First, lets me explain what the 100 Workout is. The 100 Workout is a full body workout, a combination of strength training and cardio which targets your legs, core, glues, arms, chest, shoulders, back and increase endurance. Perfect for those who are always on the go and don’t have much time to go to the gym everyday, yet wants to stay active and in shape. This workout requires NO equipment and can be done in 20 minutes or less. Suitable for the avid gym goer or the beginner that barely knows their way around a gym.

(One of my clients performing the 100 Workout)
Each workout on the list is preformed back to back with 10-25 seconds of rest between exercises and make sure you do exactly the amount of reps instructed.
There you have it folks! This is your #workoutoftheweek. And make sure you read the fine print ‘UNLESS YOU PUKE, FAINT OR DIE…KEEP GOING! Couldn’t have said it better myself. Be easy fit fam!

Stunnas

Hey Chrisette, I see you rockn them stunnas!

Chrisette Michele has been busy these past few months promoting herself and her brand as a singer/song writer. She recently took some promotional photos and I have to say, mama is looking HOT. I 'm loving her blonde locks and her makeup is absolutely stunning. Word is, her fans have been going gaga for the shades she is seen sporting in the photos, she says " I purchased my “Ted Lapidus Paris” vintage shades at a vintage shade shop in Amsterdam during a trip thru Europe looking for Audrey Hepburn fashion inspiration.”  So unless your gonna make that trip to Amsterdam to cop a pair, I suggest you pipe down and settle for the Dior- Metal Accented Rectangular Plastic Sunglasses, which retail at 345.00 .. hmmm worth it?

PrettyShoeFriday

it's my favorite day of the week FINALLY!

tonight, I'm rocking TeamShoeicide's Floral Print Pumps! Although, you won't be able to find the same shoe at the website any longer, you can find similar styles like the ones I have!

since I live in Ohio, here in a couple of weeks I won't be able to wear any cute pumps so I'm making everyday count until the snow starts falling where I'll be forces to wear nothing but boots! :)

XOXO,
@xoeirika

I don't ask for much ;)

Hello peeps! As you know, the holidays are right around the corner and I couldn't be any more excited :]

My fiance asked me what I wanted and I came up with this little snazzy list .. lol

#PSF

Whoot Whoot! It's Pretty Shoe Friday!

The ladies and I at Team Shoeicide always get excited when it's time to show off the pretty! Today the whether sucks in Miami. Gray, gloomy and wet. Despite that though, I decided to do a classic black vintage faded ankle pant. With black you can wear almost anything especially if the fit is right! I paired the pant wit a long white tank (Target has the best tanks, like ever) and a crochet blue, white and beige striped top. As far as my accessories, I went that little extra mile! I'm wearing rustic gold and brown tribal bracelets with a matching gold necklace and cute little dangling feathered hoop earrings!

And now for the best part, my shoes!!

I love these blue suede chunky pumps by Steve Madden.

They're super comfy and very sexy, even with a low heel. They look good with anything (almost). Whether it be a pencil skirt, skinny pant, a nice fitted skin tight dress. My look today was mutli-purpose inspired. I can go to any place/event and rock out. The office and dinner later. As an alternative for the top which is a little busy, you can color block, throw on a blazer and be equally as fabulous as the girl standing next to you!

Lemme see your pretty shoes :-) -@meangirl_ro

Pretty Shoe Friday (Loafer Love)

This pretty shoe Friday I’m wearing my black spiked loafers. I adore these shoes because they’re so stylish & I can throw them on when I’m on the go, or even when I want to get dolled up & still be comfortable. I wore them to class today with black & cream high waist polka dot trousers, & I added a burst of color with a hot pink v-neck shirt. My accessories consist of spiked pearl earrings, a pearl necklace, & a Juicy Couture watch. Pretty shoes or fly kicks? Tag @teamshoeicide on Instagram & let us see what you’re rocking today.

CB in Leopard print?

Last night, Chris was spotted making his way to David Furnish's 50th birthday bash, husband of one of my favorite people Elton John! Brown decided to he would rock a Dolce & Gabbana suit, and leopard print loafers, your thoughts? Me personally, I thought it was cute.. not sexy or handsome, but cute.

Even though I love me some Chris, I felt as though his fit was kind of off. I don't know if it was the pants looking a little on the "baggy" side or the no socks? lol But overall, it wasn't horrible and must I add, he looked perfect for a same sex male party ;)

The Speakers Spoke Truth.

As you know I attended the Teen Vogue University with a handful of other fashionistas. We had the privilege to speak to some very influential people and ask some questions, I took some notes on what others and myself asked about media in the digital age, blogging and more. Hope you find it as helpful as I did :) Enjoy!

Pink Friday

Breast Cancer Awareness Month is coming to an end, and I have to post about the importance of this month to our readers. Breast cancer is not only a worry for women, but men. Simply getting older and being a woman puts us at a greater risk. We have to make sure we know what we can do to protect ourselves and the ones we love from such a devastating epidemic.

My personal emotional ties with breast cancer comes through the experience that my grandmother had to face in September of 2011. She was diagnosed with breast cancer and in turn had to have her breast removed. I remember literally crawling up on my grandmother just to lay across her chest because she had the biggest breast and that was how as a child, she would comfort us and put us to sleep.  My grandmother is very brave and strong, and even though I know she was worried, she didn't complain, or want us to stress over the news that she would have to have her breast removed. I believe it hurt me more than it did her. I just could not believe that she had to go through this. I questioned my faith in God asking "Why Her?" the most God fearing, loving and the warmest spirit that I have ever encountered.. WHY HER? I just didn't understand. That was the first time in my life that I even realized that cancer didn't have a heart, it didn't care who it affected, and it surely didn't care about who was naughty or nice.

That year, I felt that I had to do whatever it was to celebrate her struggle with the disease. I looked into breast cancer foundations, and quickly decided that as a woman, I had to make sure I did my job to help find a cure. This is when and why I have made it a promise to walk annually in the Susan G Komen race for a cure and encourage every young women I know to do so as well, or at very lease donate to the cause.

This year's walk was held October 20th at Bayfront Park In Miami FL. We woke up before sunrise and gathered to walk 5k (3.1 miles) in honor of those who lost their lives, or in celebration of those who survived. I was able to encourage 25 other participants to register and walk, with the help of Jemes of King Fitness. Its such an experience, and I always feel so great and full of life after being around thousands of survivors or family of those who are walking in memory of someone who lost their life to the disease.

As a woman, I feel that certain things are just too important not to be involved with. If I have the smallest impact its better than none and as long as I have a voice I will use it to promote the importance of this cause, and I encourage everyone to do the same.

Breast cancer statistics as sited by BreastCancer.org
  • About 1 in 8 U.S. women (just under 12%) will develop invasive breast cancer over the course of her lifetime.
  • In 2011, an estimated 230,480 new cases of invasive breast cancer were expected to be diagnosed in women in the U.S., along with 57,650 new cases of non-invasive (in situ) breast cancer.
  • About 2,140 new cases of invasive breast cancer were expected to be diagnosed in men in 2011. A man’s lifetime risk of breast cancer is about 1 in 1,000.
  • From 1999 to 2005, breast cancer incidence rates in the U.S. decreased by about 2% per year. The decrease was seen only in women aged 50 and older. One theory is that this decrease was partially due to the reduced use of hormone replacement therapy (HRT) by women after the results of a large study called the Women’s Health Initiative were published in 2002. These results suggested a connection between HRT and increased breast cancer risk.
  • About 39,520 women in the U.S. were expected to die in 2011 from breast cancer, though death rates have been decreasing since 1990 — especially in women under 50. These decreases are thought to be the result of treatment advances, earlier detection through screening, and increased awareness.
  • For women in the U.S., breast cancer death rates are higher than those for any other cancer, besides lung cancer.
  • Besides skin cancer, breast cancer is the most commonly diagnosed cancer among American women. Just under 30% of cancers in women are breast cancers.
  • White women are slightly more likely to develop breast cancer than African-American women. However, in women under 45, breast cancer is more common in African-American women than white women. Overall, African-American women are more likely to die of breast cancer. Asian, Hispanic, and Native-American women have a lower risk of developing and dying from breast cancer.
  • In 2011, there were more than 2.6 million breast cancer survivors in the US.
  • A woman’s risk of breast cancer approximately doubles if she has a first-degree relative (mother, sister, daughter) who has been diagnosed with breast cancer. About 15% of women who get breast cancer have a family member diagnosed with it.
  • About 5-10% of breast cancers can be linked to gene mutations (abnormal changes) inherited from one’s mother or father. Mutations of the BRCA1 and BRCA2 genes are the most common. Women with these mutations have up to an 80% risk of developing breast cancer during their lifetime, and they are more likely to be diagnosed at a younger age (before menopause). An increased ovarian cancer risk is also associated with these genetic mutations.
  • In men, about 1 in 10 breast cancers are believed to be due to BRCA2 mutations, and even fewer cases to BRCA1 mutations.
  • About 85% of breast cancers occur in women who have no family history of breast cancer. These occur due to genetic mutations that happen as a result of the aging process and life in general, rather than inherited mutations.
  • The most significant risk factors for breast cancer are gender (being a woman) and age (growing older).

  • I'd Like To Give a Special Thank You To My Fellow Bloggers @1RedDiamond and @MeanGirl_Ro for walking!
