Watching Sports With Your Man

Listen up ladies! Football Season is back… Again & that reality either makes you cringe or gets you excited. Most of us probably aren’t thrilled about it but if you are, this post may not be for you. You may be able to benefit from a few of my tips though.

 I have never been a sports fanatic; over the past few years I’ve become a basketball fan, but anything other than that doesn’t really excite me. The problem is that my significant other is a die-hard sports fan & because I’m a firm believer in compromise I’m trying to get it together. I think it’s important to take interest in things that your partner enjoys & almost every man on the planet loves sports, so ladies… Get into it! If you expect him to go to the Beyonce concert with you, be willing to sit in front of whatever kind of game it is with him. I will be in front of the Atlanta VS Cincinnati game tonight.

1. You must start off by trying to understand the game; maybe then it will be more enjoyable. Ask your guy questions about things you don’t understand, that lets him know you care. I still can’t figure out all the technicalities of football, but I’m trying.

2. Don’t act like you’re being tortured while you’re watching the game. Cheer for his team with him, scream, shout, clap, the whole nine yards.

3. If he wants to watch the game with his boys let him, let him have his bonding time. If he invites his friends over to watch the game with the two of you, cook some fun treats for him & his friends to indulge in during the game. 

4. Surprise your guy with tickets to a sporting event where his favorite team is playing, this is the ultimate outing for him.

5. Finally, after a team win slip into something sexy to celebrate. His team’s jersey, boy shorts, heels. One of them or all three will do the trick.

Now go bond with your guy & his sports. I promise you won’t be sorry you did.

Celebrities Grace Ebony Magazine Covers in Honor of Trayvon Martin

           Three time Champion of the Miami Heat, Dwyane Wade is gracing the cover of Ebony Magazine in support of Trayvon Martin. What makes this cover so powerful is the fact that not only is D Wade on the cover, but so are his two sons & they’re all wearing hoodies in honor of Trayvon. This unfortunate situation must really hit home for Dwyane because he’s so passionate about his children & I think parents all over the world are saying to themselves “That could have been my child.” Which is why the headline going across the cover “WE ARE TRAYVON” is so appropriate.

Justice has not been served & in order to keep conversation about race alive in American & to explore the “Stand Your Ground” laws Ebony has produced a special edition for September that includes three additional covers. They include the murdered teenager’s family, Sybrina Fulton, Tracy Martin & their son, Spike Lee with his son, as well as actor/model Boris Kodjoe along with his son.

The magazines include an exclusive in depth interview with Trayvon Martin’s parents. Spike Lee, Boris Kodjoe & Dwyane Wade speak on how they approach the touchy subject of racism with their sons. There is also an article about racial profiling written by Marc Lamont Hill, who is a professor at Columbia University & a HuffPost Live host. Bishop T.D. Jakes lends a prayer of healing, a poem for Trayvon is included written by songstress Jill Scott & there’s so much more. I think all four of these issues are a must have. Will you all be picking them up when they hit stands? What do you think about this persistent fight for justice? Do you think justice will ever be served?

Jay-Z Joins Beyonce on Stage in Brooklyn

     Beyonce took the Mrs. Carter Show World Tour to the Barclays Center in Brooklyn last night (August 5^th). Just as everyone hoped & expected, she brought Mr. Carter out for a guest appearance in his hometown. The Queen Bey stared off performing “Bow Down” & midway through the song Jay-Z appeared on stage & of course the crowd went wild. She took a seat & watched her hubby do his thing performing “Tom Ford”, which is a fan favorite off of Jay’s latest album Magna Carta Holy Grail. Near the end of the song Bey went to her man’s side to play hype woman. Before Jay left the stage they embraced, kissed & Beyonce continued tearing up the stage. Check out the video below.

Seriously. Who believed DJ Khaled's proposal to Nicki was legit? If you did, you're prob still waiting for Santa to come down your imaginary chimney too. I did not buy it for one second. Clearly, DJ Khaled is already married.

Well there is a method to the madness. Khaled has just released his new single entitled "I Wannna Be With You", featuring none other than... You guessed it -- Nicki Minaj. If you've heard ANY of Khaled's songs you know he likes to put as many people on one song as possible. Rick Ross and Future will be gracing the track, as well.

Basketball Wives Season 5: New & Improved Evelyn?

Basketball Wives (BBW) fans buckle your seat belts because the Basketball Bitches are coming back with Season 5! But will it be drama packed? All the ladies know how to bring the drama, but none can bring it like Miss Evelyn Lozada, which is why she will probably be the most analyzed star on this upcoming season.

After being married for two months, Evelyn & Chad Johnson got into a physical altercation that left her with a bloody forehead. Naturally people would believe that Evelyn was the victim, but because of her violent history on BBW many felt as if she deserved it, or provoked the situation. After such backlash, Evelyn appeared on the highly rated series “Iyanla: Fix My Life” where Iyanla tried to get to the root of Evelyn’s relationship & violence issues. After this stint with Iyanla, Lozada is supposed to be a changed individual & we’re all wondering if that’s what we’ll witness.

In the new season 5 trailer Evelyn confronts Suzie about a joke that was made about her domestic violence situation. Can we look forward to seeing Evelyn jump over the table or talk it out with Suzie? The real question is which would you prefer to see? Is a new, improved, kumbaya Evelyn worth a watch?
