Violence in Music

Hi Sweets, 

Seems like lately the Hip Hop scene has been on fire and not in a good way. After the most recent incident a day before the 2014 VMAS, it made me question if we are in a BIGGIE/TUPAC era. Is beef followed by retaliation the way things are handled again in the music industry? Let's recap....


Rapper Wiz Khalifa is currently on his Under the Influence of Music tour with rapper Young Jeezy. Their Friday night show at the Shoreline Ampitheater in Mountain View, CA ended in tragedy when a man was shot backstage and died the next day at the hospital. The victim, 38-year old Eric Johnson was a promoter from Oakland, CA. As a result of this incident, Young Jeezy plus five others were arrested in Irvine, CA. Police allegedly found assault weapons in their possession. None of the suspects have been connected or charged in the death of Eric Johnson. Wiz canceled his show the day after the shooting in Chula Vista, CA at the Sleep Train Amphitheater. He has spoke out calling the incident a tragedy and giving his condolences to the family. 


Most recently at a pre VMA party at 1 OAK nightclub hosted by singer Chris Brown in Hollywood, CA, former CEO of Death Row Records Suge Knight was shot 6 times amongst a crowd of celebs and party goers. As the story developed, reports have surfaced that Knight may not have been the target in the shooting. Everyone is pretty tight-lipped about who was being protected and who the shooter may be. Luckily, Knight just got released from the hospital and is said to be recovering well from his injuries. The rapper The Game's camp had an altercation with security that same night outside of 1 OAK. The two incidents are believed to not be connected. 



With all this FIRE, I hope it doesn't turn into an EXPLOSION!

******BARBIES BACK********

My Throwback Thursday is complete! Barbie was my homegirl back in the day. So when I found out Mattel has partnered up with major retailers to develop clothing lines focusing on different decades of fashion in her honor, I had to share it with you! Forever 21, WILDFOX , and Lord & Taylor are the 3 retailers chosen to carry each line set to launch this Fall. 

Forever 21 will take us back to the 90s with a 29-piece collection (launch date: September 6). The line will focus on sportswear, outerwear, and accessories. Expect to see Ms. Barbies' bold pink logo everywhere. 
retail:$4-$25

WILDFOX will satisfy the fashion itch of the 80s babies with a 8-piece collection (launch date: November 15). Barbie themed resort wear that includes denim, sportswear, and high-waisted bikini bottoms. 
retail:$38-$180

Lord & Taylor will tackle sleepwear with a 50s and 60s swag (launch date: November 14). The line will cater to a more mature customer keeping the decade in mind.
retail: $36-$42 

Barbie was and still is a part of many homes all across the country. I can just close my eyes and imagine how nostalgic it will feel for shoppers when they spot that signature pink with that 3D logo. You better believe I will be in Forever 21 on September 6th to relive my childhood through each rack. If you're in the Milwaukee area I'll see you there ;)

Mark Bustos-Haircuts for the Homeless


Mark Bustos is the ultimate example of using your gift to inspire and make a difference. 

Mark a 30 year old Philippino high-end hairstylist for the renowned Three Squares Studios in New York, has been offering free haircuts to the poor since May 2012. It all started with a trip Bustos took to visit his family in the Philippines. He rented a barber chair so he could offer his services to underprivileged children. 
On a typical Sunday (his day off) Bustos roams the streets of New York looking for clients. In most cases along with a fresh cut Bustos offers a meal so they walk away looking and feeling good. When asked by today.com why he has taken on this task Bustos stated,"There's so much negativity in this world, and I just simply wanted to bring some positive energy and hope to the world." AGREED!!

The concrete jungle is not Bustos' only working grounds. He has taken his good deed to Jamaica, Costa Rica, and Los Angeles. His approach is simple and genuine ,"I want to do something nice for you today." That's all it takes to change somebodies day and maybe even their lives.

Kevin Hart & Eniko Parish are engaged!


This just in!! The funny man Kevin Hart decided to get all mushy on us and propose to long time girlfriend Eniko Parrish! Needless to say, the rock is gorgeous, as you can see in the picture! The two have been dating for five years, and Kevin finally popped the question. The sweetest thing about it is he popped the question on her 30th birthday! I'm extremely happy for the two love birds; however, am I the only one who realized this news surfaced the same day as the premiere of "Atlanta Exes" which features Kevin Harts long time ex wife.. Was that shade or nahh? What do you guys think?!

Guess which celebrity stylist just launched a T-Shirt Line!

Celebrity Stylist Shun Melson recently launched her long awaited T-Shirt line, and let's just say "I love.." I was honored with the privilege of meeting Shun this summer, and she is an absolutely outstanding individual. Her drive is unmatched. Pictured below are a couple of shirts from her line, with my favorite tee being worn by Kandi Buruss, "Thou Shalt Get Her Own Money"

Are Chris Martin & JLaw dating?!

First off, why is People Magazine so annoying?! lmao.. No you cannot call them Martin Lawrence! lol We're not even for sure if they're dating. Although several sources have reported that the two are in fact seeing eachother, it's kind of hard to believe, being that they both just got out of relationships. Martin and ex wife Gwyneth Paltrow split in March, after 10 years of Marriage.. And Jennifer Lawrence and Nicholas Hoult in June.. March and June are super fresh, but the relationships ended amicably for both parties, so you never know! Go Them!

So, just this past April, Naya Rivera was engaged to rapper, Big Sean. But as of August 12th, she is now married to someone other than Big Sean. Naya Rivera married Ryan Dorsey. 

The drama doesn't end there! Big Sean is now reportedly is dating Ariana Grande....

Is this a break up month? Why did Naya and Big Sean break up?

So what have the Kardashians really been up to?


The Kardashian Klan may need to have a little one on one with one of their babies of the bunch. 

It's been all over the internet about how Kendall Jenner allegedly threw money in a waitress' face, because the waitress wouldn't serve her alchohol. For those of you who don't know, Kendall is only 18 years old, and the legal age of drinking in the U.S. is 21 years old. 
Kendall and a friend were supposedly having dinner at Mercer Kitchen in Manhattan, and they ended up storming out because the waitress wouldn't serve them alchohol. According to the waitress, they left without paying for food, so she chased them down the street to find herself in a situation where money was being thrown in her face, and according to her, it wasn't even enough. After the experience the waitress, Blaine Morris, posted this on twitter:
What are your thoughts?! Do you think that Kendall was wrong? Should celebrities be given leeway because their lives are very different than the average person? As Kendall or as the waitress, what would you have done?

Christina Milian and Wayne!?

Christina Milian and Lil Wayne are dating!?!?!?!?! 

It is not confirmed yet whether or not the 2 are a couple or just friends, but Christina Milan posted a few pictures online last night of her new hairdo that makes you go "hmmmmm".

her new hairdo is an undercut with the letters “TNT” buzzed into it. You're probably wondering...what's the big deal about her getting those 3 letters...well, It could mean one of two things: 1) the name of her upcoming mixtape,  Tina Turn Up or 2) Tina ‘n’ Tunechi, AKA Weezy F Baby.

FA14 Beauty Trends-Metallic Touch

Break out your cosmetic kits ladies! Time to make sure you have all of the essentials for your makeup looks this Fall. I am a firm believer in less is more when it comes to making sure that your face is BEAT! Granted some of us prefer coverage and take more risk with eye shadows, lip colors, and bronzers. That's all good, but always make sure that the real you shines through everytime.

Metallics will be huge this Fall! You can wear them on your eyes, lips, or even as a highlight on the cheekbone. You can find them in pencil form which is an easy application for the eyes and lips. If you want a more subtle, finish a metallic powder will do the trick. "Hands up, Don't shoot"

Another unarmed teenage man was killed by police. victim's name is Michael Brown. The shooting occurred around noon at the Canfield Green Apartment Complex in St. Louis. He was set to attend college on Monday. Witnesses are saying Brown threw up his arms to show he was surrendering but officer shot him anyway. 

When is it ever going to end? Police officers are supposed to be here to "protect and serve" us...not make us be afraid of our every move we make fearing we may be a victim of similar situations. when is "enough", enough?

When the George Zimmerman vs state of Florida case opened (Trayvon Martin), I personally got very emotionally involved with the whole situation and I followed and kept up with the whole trial. Because of the "stand your ground law" in Florida, Zimmerman was found not guilty and I personally and strongly believed justice was not served. 

This Michael Brown case is not the first time something like this has occurred....and sadly but definitely truly, I don't think that it will be the last. 

The officer who shot and killed Brown is currently on paid leave...HE IS GETTING PAID WHILE MICHAEL BROWN's FAMILY ARE SUFFERING FROM A LOSS. 

When will this stop?

Get the #YONCÉ look hunty!

Look Fierce Like Bey

SLAYIN' ON THE RUNWAY!


A couple days ago Beyonce posted a picture of herself posing in front of a private jet. Yonce looked fab in a ribbed crop top, with a tan pencil skirt, and large envelope clutch. She accessorized the look with multiple gold plated chokers, a gold simple body chain, a gold bracelet, with some fierce ass cat eye sunnies! In her Instagram photo you could not see what shoes she was wearing (which were probably stunning hunty let me tell you), so I paired the look with some clean and simple white pumps. I think these shoes would complete the look perfectly. Those white pumps will keep the look clean and  simple. If you want to make this look more dramatic I would suggest wearing a nice strappy heeled sandal with a stunning embellished jacket or edgy leather jacket. Then you would be ready to walk the side walks like it's a runway. Be like Bey and #WERK this look ladies!
