Top Fashion Trends for 2014: For the Love of Denim

A full denim outfit was one of the top fashion trends of 2014! My favorite was seeing celebrities, fashion stylist, and bloggers mix and match their outfits with different types of denim! In my outfit creation, I used two different denim textures, paired with nude heels, cheetah print handbag, gold sunglasses, and the perfect shade of red lipstick!

Nicki Minaj has been explosive lately, her new album "The Pinkprint" is EVERYTHING, Incase you all haven't heard. However, aside from all of that, Nicki has been on awholenother level lately, and I'm so digging it. The new look, the new persona, the new Nicki is oh so graceful, and I absolutely LOVE IT! 

Clearly, I am not the only one who feels this way; Roberto Cavalli announced Nicki as the face of its 2015 ad campaign, dope right? Cavalli said, "I chose Nicki Minaj because she embodies the exuberant and modern femininity of the Cavalli woman," he told WWD, "I wanted a sensual woman who is aware of her body, who is not afraid to show her curves—rather, she turns them into her strength." And that is exactly what Nicki Minaj has done over the years.

So how can I call Nicki Minaj, graceful, you ask? Cavalli hit the nail on the head, Nicki can't help that she's sexy, no doubt, she's Nicki Minaj; but at the same time, she embodies a woman who is a Girl Boss, she's powerful, and she's fierce. Nicki is confident about who she is, and she proud of her femininity, I love it! Expect to be seeing Nicki in Cavalli ads come January!

When Bey & Jay, met Will & Kate.

Incase you guys have been hiding under a rock, Prince William and Princess Kate had their first official visit to NYC today, and the Royals showed up at the Barclays Center tonight to watch the Nets vs Cavs game. Of course the Carter's were in the building, and that's when the royals of the music industry met Prince William and Princess Kate. The couples sat opposite of each other at the game, but Beyoncé took a moment to greet Will & Kate, and that's when it happened. I don't know if it's because I'm such a fan, but it was definitely a huge moment for me. The Carter's are officially EVERYTHING.

I could write 100 paragraphs about my opinion on the recent events that have taken place against African Americans, but all I have to say is, "What happened to, One nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all?"

What Season Should You Wear White?

White is the color for Summer? I don't think so. White can be a winter color as well. I personally break the fashion rules on when to wear certain colors for the seasons! No matter what color or style, I will wear it year around! From a white trench coat in Fall/Winter, a white fit a flare skirt in the spring, and a white skater dress in the fall; just break the rules and make your own!

Rihanna's Look for the British Fashion Awards

I'm absolutely in LOVE with Rihanna's look for the 2014 British Fashion Awards. Everything from her hair, her makeup, and her beautiful Tux Dress by Stella McCartney is STUNNING! 

She kept it simple and classy from H to T; head to toe, which made this look elegant and timeless!

Shine bright RiRi! 

Rihanna x Business Casual

Rihanna was recently in L.A. at the MAC Cosmetics premiere of It’s Not Over where the pop mogul was recognized as being one of the most successful spokespersons for MAC. Of course, being the bad a** that RiRi is, she used this as a window to kill us w/ an attempt at business casual—and as you can see, it was her best! This office-inspired outfit, was curated by her pairing Altuzarra's pale pink gingham skirt suit from the spring 2015 collection, with a pewter Jesus-Sandal strapped pump, along with a super chic chignon that totally SOLD this proper & prim look. Rihanna made sure that the look maintained her signature edge though, she wore a plum lippie, and her sternum was very much visible; serving us with that twist that we so love about her. 

**WEST COAST SWAG**

This past weekend, I got the opportunity to visit some friends in LA. Stepping out of 40 degree weather into 70 degree awesomeness felt so good. Not only was this a much needed vacation, but I took it as a chance to steal some fashion tips from my neighbors on the WEST SIDE!!

Pulling up to the boutiques on Melrose Ave. made me feel like Carrie Bradshaw on the streets of New York. Every store was a new experience. There were a few trends that held true. They even showed up as I went about my days exploring. 

Atheleisure/ hiphop themed apparel-  The music industry has greatly influenced fashion on the west coast. Every boutique had their too cool for school section. The kind of style that made you feel like you should be in a hip hop video throwing some money up in the air. Items like:

*Jogging sets that pay homage to music legends of the past like Biggie & Tupac

*Versace inspired sublimated tees

*Varsity looking tops and jackets

*Bandana print everything

Circular Sunniest

Aviators nah! I was surprised at how many circular sunnies I saw for females. They came in different sizes and different tints. 

Midi Skirts

Pack up your mini skirts ladies! The length for right now is the midi. For those of you who have no idea what I'm talking about, the midi hits below the knees. Fix your face because this length is actually flattering on any body type. 

Match Backs 

Still seeing match backs. The focus is on prints. In the stores, sets were merchandised separately so you don't feel pressured to buy the prints together. LOVE THAT!

Mix and Matching Suiting 

For men's dress wear it was all about mix and match suiting. The key to getting this right is, to always keep your darker tone on the bottom. If you're playing with color choose wisely. HAVE FUN!

Hats

I envy those who can pull off a hat. Some of us are sized challenged. Meaning you got a big head! No worries,I saw so many different types of hats. There is something out there for everyone. 

*Baseball caps (textured, faux leather)

*Buckets

*Wide Brim

*Floppy

*Scully (texting callouts) 

Take these fashion finds and incorporate them into your wardrobe. Your friends will be so impressed at how stylish you are!

Solo ties the knot!

There have been many rumors surrounding Solange Knowles having a secret wedding, and we are just so proud to announce that the rumors were very true! The beautiful and fashionable little songstress tied the knot with her longtime lover Alan Ferguson earlier today. Needless to say, the wedding was absolutely beautiful, and it was So Solange! It took place in New Orleans and there wasn't really a big crowd. Only about 50 close friends and family attended, and of course big sis Beyoncé, Jay Z, and Baby Blue were on that list. The wedding was an all white affair, and the newlyweds wore it BEST! So excited for these two! CONGRATS SOLO & Alan!
